Carleigh and Ed's wedding

Another beautiful Saturday for Carleigh and Ed's wedding, and two lovely venues as well. The ceremony was at Western Presbyterian Church near the Kennedy Center. I'd never been there before but I loved the stone facade and the little nooks around the church for portraits. My favorite part of the ceremony was that Ed was completely serious, not sure he cracked a smile for most of the duration and Carleigh was so excited she was rocking back and forth, almost ready to jump! It was cute to watch and unfortunately not something I could capture with still camera. We had a lovely walk around the church's neighborhood, making sure to get the Watergate in some of the photos. Then on to the Arts Club of Washington and a lovely night for an outside reception. It was such a pleasure for me to be outside with the wonderful early evening light. And thanks for Katie Martin for making things run smoothly!

Elissa and Daniel's wedding

It's been a couple weeks between postings. I've been busy with a wedding every weekend but skipped an entry respecting the couple's privacy. It was a lovely wedding on another amazing Saturday in DC.

On to Elissa and Daniel on June 7. The wedding and reception were at the Carnegie Institute in the Dupont Circle area and it's a fantastic venue. It's got beautiful natural light, marble columns and lots of cool staircases. Plus it's in Elissa and Daniel's neighborhood so it had special meaning as we walked around 16th and P Sts. after the ceremony and posed in front of the amazing mural in the park down the street. I loved the colors of the mural and it wasn't until I got home and looked at the photos that I realized it said "Humanity." How perfect is that? In my defense--the lettering is pretty stylized and it takes a minute to figure it out. The other photo I got without realizing it was during the hora. First of all--it's a great place to shoot the hora with such a clean shot from the balcony. I knew it would look terrific. Anyway, I'm shooting away and at one point a circle forms and Elissa gets in the middle with Dan's niece. Around them all of the men are whirling and dancing. I didn't really see that the little girl was not enjoying herself! We did get lots of lovely photos of her during the day but this was one of my favorites. I'm also partial to the one of her putting on Elissa's shoes before the ceremony. I was helped out for part of the day by the wonderful Toni Sandys who worked the downstairs while I had fun on the balcony!

It was a pleasure working with the folks at the Carnegie Institute, the talented Gerry Rogers at Petal's Edge florist and 3 Citron caterers.
